[TRURO, NS] – The Native Council of Nova Scotia has developed a suite of new marketing and educational materials to raise awareness about Nova Scotia’s Off-Reserve Mi’kmaq/Aboriginal Peoples, as well as the programs and services offered to them through the Council.
According to the 2006 Statistics Canada Census, 84 per cent of Nova Scotia’s Mi’kmaq/Aboriginal People live off-reserve as fully integrated community members. They work, raise their families and pay taxes throughout the province.
Founded in 1974, the Native Council of Nova Scotia is a united voice for Nova Scotia’s Off-Reserve Mi’kmaq/Aboriginal Peoples. The NCNS operates in 13 zones across Nova Scotia and partners with many Aboriginal groups, governments, businesses, community organizations and economic developers to advance the interests of Mi’kmaq/Aboriginal Peoples across ancestral homelands.
The NCNS offers programs and services in areas as diverse as job creation, training and education, health and housing. The new marketing materials include a promotional video and communications kits that provide an introduction to this dynamic organization.
