Senior town staff are working with the contractors to address any deficiencies that have cropped up since the opening of the new (Sackville, New Brunswick) municipal building.

Michael Beal, Sackville’s acting CAO, said the town took ownership of the building in mid-March and moved into their new home a week later, although some construction work and touch-ups still remained to be finalized.

“Approximately 95 per cent of the building was complete (when staff moved in),” he said, noting the town was provided with an initial report on move-in day of items that needed to be finished.

The contractor has remained on site working on outstanding items, including finishing up the RCMP area.

Beal said there have been a few additions made to the list since that time, new items that have been included by town staff to improve their workplace areas – such as outlets, data and telephone drops.

Once those items have been addressed, Beal said a final deficiency list will be drawn up to hand to the contractor to “complete in a timely manner” before the contract is fully carried out.

“But that’s not expected to be huge.”

He also noted that there are a few seasonal deficiencies that will need to be finished up as well later in the spring, including some sod that still needs to be laid, a second coat of asphalt, and the development of the new green roof.
