On June 21 an employee of Lloyd Dutcher Development Ltd., a Fredericton-based residential construction company, was on the second level of a new building project when he fell through an opening to the basement 25 feet below.

WorkSafeNB’s health and safety officers are investigating to determine how the accident could have been prevented and if there were any violations of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

It is the second workplace fatality in the province this month.

On June 12 an employee of Design Built Mechanical Inc. in Charlo was pronounced dead by responding paramedics after a forklift fell on top of him.

WorkSafe NB is also investigating that accident.
