The project will be carried over three years for a total investment of $12.5 million. Work will begin once the contract is awarded.
The work will comprise structural steel repairs and upgrades to bring the bridge to current standards. This will include painting of the southern approach spans and the main truss and deck truss spans.
Overweight permits have been restricted on the bridge until the repairs are completed.
During the next several months, travellers can expect single-lane closures during the day and full closures of the bridge at night. Detours will be posted as required. One lane of the off-ramp for Church Street on the south end of the bridge will be closed for 28 days this summer.
The bridge will be open during the Miramichi Irish Festival.
