The Red Bridge on the old Margaree Road in Big Baddeck, Victoria County, Nova Scotia will be replaced this construction season.

Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal staff are working on a plan, including the structural design of the new bridge and the replacement timeline. The existing bridge will be removed over the summer for safety reasons. 

"We're pleased to announce that we are replacing the aging Red Bridge with a brand new structure," new provincial minister Maurice Smith said June 7.

The Red Bridge was closed in May after a routine inspection discovered concerns with the structure.
