A sod-turning ceremony was held June 19 as construction on a $10-million kindergarten to Grade 5 school in Lincoln, New Brunswick got officially underway.

The school is being built on a 12-hectare (30-acre) property on the Lincoln Road.

Springhill Construction Ltd. of Fredericton won the construction contract for the work on the 3,722-square-metre (40,048-sq.-ft.) school, which will include 12 classrooms, a music room, resource rooms, a gym, cafeteria, library and project work areas for students.

The building will be constructed in accordance with the province's Green Building Policy.

Construction is expected to be completed in the fall of 2013. The old school was demolished at the current site in the summer of 2011.
