Heavy rain washed out roads in a handful of communities in the Lewisporte (Newfoundland) area overnight Saturday (Sept. 1).

Roads in Little Burnt Bay, Route 340, Stanhope Road and an area known as Mussel Bed were all damaged by water.

One section of roadway on Route 340 near Michaels Harbour was completely underwater for a while and was closed to all traffic.

All the affected roads were given an OK to reopen by Sunday afternoon (Sept. 2) by the Department of Transportation and Works.
