[YARMOUTH, NS] — The new manager for the Yarmouth and Acadian Shores Tourism Association says the region may be facing challenges, but its natural beauty, culture and heritage are still strong selling points for visitors.

“We will work with our industry to offer our visitors an opportunity to experience our unique culture and heritage through projects such as Musique de la Baie and Savour the Local Sea,” said Lisa LeBlanc. “Yarmouth and Acadian Shores has many beautiful beaches, fascinating museums and a wide array of culinary talents,” she added.

LeBlanc comes to the association with 10 years of experience in community development, funding consultation, partnership development and project management.

She holds a diploma in human services, occupational specialties as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in community studies. She was previously employed as a funding consultant and project manager for the Weymouth Waterfront Development Committee where she completed two community projects: Sissiboo Landing and the Sissiboo Story Book Trail.

Town councillor Esther Dares, chair of YASTA, says they are pleased have LeBlanc on the team.

“Her skills, energy and enthusiasm for the tourism industry will serve Yarmouth and Acadian Shores well as we continue to build tourism product in our region,” said Dares.

As general manager, LeBlanc will be working with YASTA to lead tourism development in the region.

“YASTA will be reviewing its strategic plan in the coming months and from there we will be going forward building on the theme: An Experience Shaped by the Sea. YASTA will seek to promote authentic experiences and products that tell the stories of the communities in our region,” she said.

LeBlanc added that building on the success of the past and creating new experiences and opportunities for growth in tourism remain important.
